How to Draw a Tundra
Draw a tundra in 13 steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: far hills and snow.
Step 1: Far hills and snow
Above halfway draw a line edge to edge. Start on it and draw 3 pointed hills, stopping on the line.
Tip Leave the bottom half empty for the snowy plain.
Step 2: The head
Below the hills, right of the middle, draw the musk ox's round head, as big as a plum.
Step 3: Eyes and nose
In the middle of the head draw 2 big eyes with black dots. Add a wide nose and a smile.
Step 4: The horns
On each side of the head draw a horn curving down and hooking up. Add a bumpy wool cap.
Step 5: The neck
Start behind the head and slope a line down right. Start under the chin and draw down to the chest.
Step 6: The body
From the neck go over a hump and round the bottom, then draw soft wool bumps back to the chest.
Step 7: Legs and the ground
Draw a ground line low down. Under the wool draw a front and a back leg, each with a hoof.
Step 8: Far legs and tail
Behind each leg draw a far leg peeking out, down to the ground. Add a short tufted tail.
Step 9: Mound, rocks and grass
On the left draw a wide mound, starting and stopping on the ground. Add 2 rocks and 2 grass tufts.
Step 10: A pale sun
In the top left draw a round pale sun, as big as a plum, with 8 short rays around it.
Step 11: Yellow sun, blue hills
Colour the sun yellow and the far hills light blue under their snow caps. Leave the snow white.
Step 12: Green mound, grey rocks
Colour the mound and its grass green. Colour the horns, tail tuft, hooves and rocks grey.
Step 13: Brown musk ox
Go over your lines. Colour the nose and cap light brown, then the ox brown around them.
Tip Leave the eyes white.
