How to Draw a Hole
Draw a hole in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the hole.
Step 1: The hole
In the middle of your paper draw a big oval lying on its side, wider than it is tall.
Tip Go slowly round the 2 ends so they are round, not pointy.
Step 2: The far wall
Inside the oval, start on the left edge. Draw a rainbow curve across and stop on the right edge.
Tip The gap above the curve is the far wall of the hole. It makes the hole look deep.
Step 3: The grass line
Near the top of your paper, start near the left edge. Draw a straight line across to the right edge.
Tip Leave a gap between this line and the hole. The grass goes all the way down from here.
Step 4: Dirt all round
Around the hole draw a bigger oval. Leave a finger-width gap, a little more at the front.
Tip This is the bare dirt round the hole.
Step 5: Two pebbles
On the dirt in front of the hole draw 2 little oval pebbles, a big one and a small one.
Step 6: Grass tufts
On the grass line draw 3 tufts of grass with pointy blades: one big, one small, one in between.
Step 7: Sandy dirt, grey pebbles
Colour the dirt a light sandy yellow, around the hole. Colour the 2 pebbles grey.
Step 8: Green grass
Colour the grass and the 3 tufts green, around the dirt, right out to the edges of your paper.
Step 9: Brown wall
Colour the far wall brown. That is the part of the hole above your curve.
Step 10: Dark hole
Colour the rest of the hole black, below the curve. Go over your lines. Your hole is done!
