How to Draw a Dik-Dik

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a dik-dik in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top left, draw a big head, a little taller than wide, narrowing down into a long snout.

  2. Step 2: Eyes and snout

Draw 2 big eyes. From one snout side, draw an upside-down U across to the other. Add nose and smile.

Tip The long snout is the big clue: keep the nose at its tip.

  3. Step 3: Tuft, horns and ears

Draw a hair tuft and 2 tiny horns on top. Give each side a leaf ear with a leaf inside.

  4. Step 4: The neck

Draw 2 neck lines: from behind the head down to the back, from under the jaw down to the chest.

  5. Step 5: The body

From the neck draw a bean body: a long back, a round bottom, and a tummy up to the chest.

Tip A bean, not a loaf: the bottom is rounder than the chest.

  6. Step 6: Two legs

Draw a ground line. Add a front leg under the chest and a back leg under the bottom, with hooves.

Tip Each leg gets thinner as it goes down. The back leg has a round thigh and a little bend.

  7. Step 7: The far legs

Draw a far leg peeking out behind each near leg, with a hoof on the ground.

  8. Step 8: The tail

On the top corner of the bottom draw a little leaf tail pointing up and back, like a flag.

  9. Step 9: Cream snout, peach ears

Go over your lines. Colour the snout cream and the ear insides peach. Leave the eyes white.

  10. Step 10: Colour it sand

Colour the head, ears, neck, body, legs and tail sand, around the snout and ear insides.

  11. Step 11: Hair, horns and hooves

Colour the hair tuft and horns wood brown, and the hooves slate grey. Your dik-dik is done!
