How to Draw a Fire Salamander
Draw a fire salamander in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Start at the top right. Draw a round C for the head, snout on the left. Stop below your start.
Step 2: Eye, grin, nostril
Draw a big eye in the front of the head. From the snout, draw a grin under it, curling up.
Tip The pupil is more than half the eye, so it looks right at you.
Step 3: Slender body
From the top of the head, draw a long sausage body round to the right and back to the chin.
Step 4: Long round tail
From the back, draw a thick tail sweeping down low to a round tip, then under to the belly.
Tip The tail is thick at the root, about as long as the body.
Step 5: Two near legs
Under the chest, draw a short bent leg with a foot of 3 round toes. Do another near the tail.
Tip Each leg is wide at the body and thin at the ankle, with the toes pointing forward.
Step 6: Two far legs
Just behind each leg, draw the far leg peeking out: a thin strip down to its heel.
Step 7: The ground
Draw a long ground line under all the toes and the tail tip.
Step 8: Big yellow blotches
Draw 7 wobbly blotches: 1 behind the eye, 3 along the back, 1 low down and 2 on the tail.
Tip The blotches are bold and uneven, like paint splashes, never a neat row.
Step 9: Yellow blotches
Colour every blotch bright yellow.
Step 10: Black body
Go over your lines. Colour the head, body and tail black, around the blotches. Keep the eye white.
Step 11: Black legs
Colour all 4 legs black too. Your fire salamander is done!
