How to Draw a Horse Face with a Mane
Draw a horse face with a mane in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: long face.
Step 1: Long face
In the middle, draw a long face like a tall egg, pointy end down, widest at the eyes.
Tip Leave room above for tall ears and below for the neck.
Step 2: Big nose and smile
Across the bottom of the face, draw a big sideways oval nose. Add 2 black nostrils and a smile.
Step 3: Tall leaf ears
On each top corner, draw a tall leaf ear leaning out, with a thinner leaf inside.
Step 4: The forelock
Between the ears, draw a little hill of hair with 3 floppy points hanging on the forehead.
Step 5: Two big eyes
Below the middle of the face, draw 2 big egg eyes with black dots and shines. Flick 2 lashes each.
Step 6: The blaze
From the middle forelock point, draw 2 soft lines down between the eyes, stopping on the nose.
Step 7: The neck
From each cheek above the nose, draw a line bowing down to a round U chest below the chin.
Step 8: The mane
Start beside the bottom of the right ear. Draw 3 wavy hills down the side, stopping on the neck.
Tip The dips stay a finger away from the face.
Step 9: Cream nose and blaze
Colour the nose and blaze cream, and the inside of each ear pink.
Step 10: Tan face and neck
Colour the face, ears and neck tan, around the cream and pink. Keep the eyes white.
Step 11: Brown mane
Go over your lines, then colour the forelock and the mane dark brown.
