How to Draw a Monkey Swinging
Draw a monkey swinging in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Above the middle of your paper draw a big round head, tipped a little right. Add 3 hair bumps.
Tip The whole monkey leans right: it is swinging!
Step 2: The face
Inside the head draw a smaller face shape, a finger in from the edge all the way round.
Tip The gap is the ring of dark fur.
Step 3: Eyes and smile
Draw 2 big round eyes above the middle of the face. Add 2 nostril dots and a wide U smile.
Step 4: Big round ears
On each side of the head draw a big round C ear sticking out, with a smaller C inside.
Step 5: The body
Start under the left cheek. Draw a big egg body hanging down and a little right, to the right cheek.
Step 6: The branch
Near the top draw a long sagging branch across the page. Add a knot, a twig and 2 bark lines.
Step 7: Long arm up
Start at the top left of the body. Draw a long arm up past the head to the branch.
Step 8: Fist on the branch
Over the branch, above the arm, draw a round fist with 4 finger bumps on top. Add 3 finger lines.
Step 9: The free arm
At the body's top right draw the other arm hanging down. Add a round hand with 3 finger bumps.
Step 10: Legs and curly tail
Under the tummy draw 2 short bent legs with round feet. From the bottom left draw a long curly tail.
Step 11: Tan face
Colour the face and the inside of both ears tan. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Brown fur
Colour the head around the face, the ears, body, arms, fist and hand brown.
Step 13: Brown legs
Colour the legs, feet and curly tail brown too.
Step 14: Wood branch
Colour the branch and its twig light brown, around the fist.
