How to Draw a Moai
Draw a moai in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big head.
Step 1: The big head
Start low on the left. Draw a giant tall head, round on top, and stop low on the right.
Step 2: Heavy brow
Below the top, start on the left edge. Draw a bumpy flat M across to the right edge.
Step 3: Long nose
Start in the middle of the brow. Draw a long U nose down and back up to the brow.
Step 4: Deep eyes
Under the brow, beside the nose, draw 2 leaf eyes, each with a black dot and a white shine.
Step 5: The smile
Under the nose, draw a short flat line, then a U from end to end under it for a smile.
Step 6: Long ears
On each side, start at the brow. Draw a long ear bulging out, and stop by the mouth.
Step 7: Grassy mound
From the left, draw a hill up to the head and down to the right, then a long ground line.
Step 8: The sun
Draw a round sun with 8 short rays in the top right.
Step 9: A cloud
Draw a puffy cloud in the top left: a row of bumps over the top and 2 flatter bumps underneath.
Step 10: Yellow sun, grey stone
Colour the sun yellow, then the head and ears grey. Leave the eyes and the cloud white.
Step 11: Green mound
Colour the mound green. Go over all your lines and your moai is done!
