How to Draw a Windmill
Draw a windmill in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the tower.
Step 1: The tower
Low in the middle of your paper, draw a tall tower, narrower at the top, with a flat top.
Tip The tower is like a tall flowerpot turned upside down.
Step 2: The cap
Start on the left end of the top. Draw a dome over, stop on the right end. Add a hub.
Step 3: Four blades
From the hub draw 4 long straight blades in an X, 2 up and 2 down.
Tip The blades are in front of the tower, so draw them right over it.
Step 4: Blade rungs
Draw 3 short lines across each blade from edge to edge for the rungs, evenly spaced.
Step 5: The door
In the bottom middle of the tower, draw an arched door, up, rainbow over, back down. Add a knob.
Step 6: The window
Halfway up the tower draw a round window with a plus sign inside, edge to edge.
Step 7: The ground
From each bottom corner draw the ground out to the paper's edge. Add 3 grass blades at each end.
Step 8: Two bands
Below the window draw 2 lines across the tower, bowing down. Start at each edge and stop at the door.
Step 9: Bushes and tulips
At each bottom corner draw a bumpy bush, starting and stopping on the ground. Add a tulip at each edge.
Step 10: Cream tower
Colour the tower cream around the door, blades and bushes.
Step 11: Blades, door and bushes
Colour the 4 blades and the door wood brown, and the bushes and tulip leaves green.
Step 12: Red tulips, brown cap
Colour the tulips red, and the cap and hub dark brown around the blades. Your windmill is done!
