How to Draw a Melting Snowman

Draw a melting snowman in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Step 1: The head
Near the top, draw a big round head. Leave room above for a tall hat and lots of room below.
Tip Snow is soft, so your circle does not have to be perfect.
Step 2: The top hat
Draw a flat brim across the top of the head. Add a tall hat with a band near the bottom.
Step 3: Coal eyes and carrot
High on the head, draw 2 big round coal eyes, coloured black. Add a pointed carrot nose to the right.
Step 4: Coal smile and cheeks
Under the nose, draw 5 black coal dots in a grin. Add 2 small oval cheeks under the eyes.
Step 5: The squashed tummy
Under the head, draw a wide soft tummy that sags and spreads out at the bottom, like a melting snowball.
Step 6: Scarf and tail
Between the head and tummy, draw a scarf band like a wide smile. Add a knot and a fringed tail.
Step 7: Puddle and buttons
Around the bottom of the tummy, draw a long flat puddle, much wider than the tummy. Add 2 coal buttons.
Step 8: Drooping stick arms
From each side of the tummy, draw a thin stick drooping out to a round tip, with a little twig.
Tip The arms droop a little, tired and melty.
Step 9: Ground, sun and sweat
Draw a ground line under the puddle. Draw a round sun with rays top right. Add 2 sweat drops.
Step 10: Yellow sun, sky puddle
Colour the sun yellow, and the puddle and sweat drops sky blue. Leave the snow white.
Step 11: Pink cheeks, orange carrot
Colour the cheeks pink and the carrot nose orange.
Step 12: Red scarf, brown sticks
Colour the scarf, knot, tail and hat band red. Colour the stick arms and twigs brown.
Step 13: Black hat
Colour the hat black, around the red band. Your snowman is melting away!
