How to Draw an Umbrella
Draw an umbrella in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the canopy.
Step 1: The canopy
Start on the left above the middle. Draw a big rainbow hill over to the right, level with the start.
Tip The canopy is wide: it spans most of the page from side to side.
Step 2: The bumpy edge
Start at the hill's right end. Draw 6 fat round bumps along the bottom, across to the left end.
Step 3: The ribs
From the top of the canopy draw 4 rib lines down to the dips between the bumps, bowing out slightly.
Step 4: The tip
On the very top draw a short spike from the canopy up to a point, with a tiny ball.
Step 5: The shaft
From the middle dip under the canopy draw 2 lines straight down, close together, stopping near the bottom.
Step 6: The hook handle
At the shaft's bottom draw a J hook from the left line, curving down and round to the right.
Tip Close the end of the hook with a short line.
Step 7: Raindrops
Draw 6 little raindrops outside the umbrella: teardrops pointing up, above the canopy and out to each side.
Tip None underneath the umbrella: it's keeping that dry!
Step 8: A puddle
Under the hook draw a long, flat oval puddle, much wider than the handle.
Step 9: Yellow and blue
Colour the 2 panels beside the middle one yellow. Colour the raindrops and puddle sky blue.
Step 10: Red and brown
Colour the other panels red, around the yellow. Colour the shaft, hook and tip brown. Go over your lines!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: an umbrella, drawn by you.
