How to Draw a Melting Clock
Draw a melting clock in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a bare tree.
Step 1: A bare tree
From the bottom left draw a trunk bending into a long branch, then back down to the bottom right.
Tip A clock gone soft, draped over a branch like a wet towel.
Step 2: The soft clock
Draw a big soft clock hanging over the branch, its right side sagging into a long drip below.
Tip Rub out the branch line inside the clock.
Step 3: The numbers
Write 12 at the top, 9 on the left, 3 where it sags, and 6 at the drip's bottom.
Tip The numbers stretch with the clock.
Step 4: Pin and hands
Draw a pin in the round part. From it draw a short hand and a long hand, ending in triangles.
Tip The short hand points up left, the long hand down right.
Step 5: Melting drips
From the clock's bottom edge draw 2 little drips, each hanging down into a round blob.
Tip Rub out the clock line across the top of each drip.
Step 6: A twig and leaf
From the top of the trunk draw a short twig curving up to a small leaf.
Step 7: The sun
In the top right corner draw a circle for the sun, with 8 short rays all the way round.
Step 8: Ground and grass
Draw a ground line across the bottom from left to right. Add 2 tufts of grass on it.
Step 9: Cream clock, yellow sun
Colour the clock and its drips cream, going round the numbers and hands. Colour the sun yellow.
Step 10: Green leaf and grass
Colour the leaf and the grass tufts green.
Step 11: Brown tree, black tips
Colour the tree brown like wood, around the clock, and the hand tips black. Your melting clock is done!
