How to Draw a Melon
Draw a melon in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the melon.
Step 1: The melon
Left of the middle draw a big round melon, as big as your fist and a little lumpy.
Step 2: The stem scar
On the very top of the round draw a small flat oval for the scar where the stem was.
Step 3: The ribs
From the stem scar draw 3 curved lines down to the bottom edge, bowing the side ones out.
Step 4: A slice
Low on the right draw a slice in front: a straight top line with a big U under it.
Tip Like a slice of watermelon. The melon hides behind it.
Step 5: The rind
Draw a smaller U inside the big one, from the top line round to it. This strip is the rind.
Step 6: Seeds
Just under the top line draw 3 little teardrop seeds in a row, points up.
Step 7: A shine
In a clear space at the top left of the melon draw a thin oval sliver for a shine.
Step 8: The ground
Draw a ground line under the melon and the slice, just touching their bottoms, out past both sides.
Step 9: Tan melon
Go over your lines, then colour the round melon tan, leaving the shine white.
Step 10: Orange slice
Colour the slice orange around the seeds, down to the rind strip.
Step 11: Green rind, brown seeds
Colour the rind strip green, and the seeds and the stem scar brown.

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a melon, drawn by you.
