How to Draw a Dog Food

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a dog food in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rim.

Print

  1. Step 1: The rim

Start at the left and draw a wide flat oval across the middle of the paper, back to the start.

Tip Leave room above it: the food piles up high.

  2. Step 2: The bowl

Start at the oval's left end. Slope down and out, along the bottom and up; stop at its right end.

Tip A dog bowl is wider at the bottom so it cannot tip over.

  3. Step 3: A row of food

Inside the rim draw 5 round bits of dog food side by side. Stop at the front rim.

Tip Rub out the back of the rim where the food hides it.

  4. Step 4: A second row

On top draw 4 more round bits, each one sitting between 2 bits below.

  5. Step 5: A third row

Pile 3 more bits on top, in the dips between the bits below.

  6. Step 6: The top of the heap

Finish the heap with 2 last bits on the very top.

Tip Each row has one bit fewer than the row below.

  7. Step 7: A bone

On the bowl's front draw a little bone: 2 round bumps at each end of a short bar.

Tip A bone on the bowl shows it belongs to a dog.

  8. Step 8: A stripe

Start on the bowl's left side near the bottom. Draw one gentle curve across and stop at the right side.

  9. Step 9: Table and shadow

Draw a thin shadow oval round the bottom of the bowl. Add a table line out from each side.

  10. Step 10: Cream bone and stripe

Colour the bone cream. Colour the bowl under the stripe cream too.

  11. Step 11: Tan bits

Colour 7 of the food bits tan, here and there, like the picture.

Tip Leave the other bits white for now.

  12. Step 12: Brown bits

Colour the other 7 food bits brown, and the little gaps between them too.

  13. Step 13: Red bowl, grey shadow

Colour the bowl and the rim red, around the bone. Colour the shadow grey. Your dog food is done!

Tip Go round the bone so it stays cream.
