How to Draw a Mechanic

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a mechanic in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper, in the middle, draw an egg for the head, narrower at the chin.

Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and legs.

  2. Step 2: The face

Draw 2 eyes, a nose and a smile. Start a C ear on each side, ending on the head.

  3. Step 3: Baseball cap

Draw a round cap over the top of the head. Add a wide curved peak sticking out over the eyes.

  4. Step 4: Neck and coveralls

Draw 2 neck lines and shoulders. Start under the left shoulder, draw coveralls, stop under the right. Add a zip.

Tip Leave a gap under each shoulder for the sleeves.

  5. Step 5: Name patch and pocket

On the right of the chest draw a name patch, a box with a line. Add a pocket below it.

  6. Step 6: Long sleeves

From each shoulder draw a long sleeve, stopping at the armpit. The right one hangs down, the left bends in.

  7. Step 7: Mitten hands

On the right draw a mitten hanging down. On the left draw a mitten pointing in, with a thumb bump.

  8. Step 8: Wrench

Start on top of the left hand. Draw 2 lines up and stop at a round head with a notch.

  9. Step 9: Trouser legs

Start at the coveralls' bottom left. Draw 2 trouser legs with a point between them, stopping at the bottom right.

  10. Step 10: Boots and ground

Under each trouser leg draw a tall boot with its toe pointing out. Add a long ground line under both.

  11. Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour pink cheeks, then the face, ears, neck and hands peach around them. Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Red cap, grey wrench

Colour the cap and its peak red, and the wrench grey.

  13. Step 13: Blue coveralls, black boots

Colour the coveralls blue around the hand and wrench, leaving the patch white, and the boots black.

Tip Go over your lines and your mechanic is done!
