How to Draw a Hug

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a hug in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: two heads.

Print

  1. Step 1: Two heads

Near the top draw 2 egg heads side by side, touching like cheek to cheek.

Tip Leave the page below for the bodies.

  2. Step 2: The left face

On the left head draw 2 big round eyes with black dots, close to the friend. Add a wide smile.

Tip The face sits nearer the middle, so the friends look at each other.

  3. Step 3: The right face

On the right head draw 2 big round eyes with black dots, close to the friend. Add a wide smile.

  4. Step 4: Tufty hair

On the left head draw 4 soft hair bumps over the top, then a hairline back across the forehead.

  5. Step 5: Fringe and ponytail

On the right head draw hair over the top with a curved fringe. Add a big oval ponytail outside.

  6. Step 6: Two bodies

Under the left head draw a shirt with a curved back. Under the right draw a longer dress. They touch.

Tip The two friends stand tummy to tummy.

  7. Step 7: First hugging arm

Start at the left kid's shoulder. Draw an arm across, bending down round the friend's back. End with a hand.

Tip Add a short line across the arm for the sleeve.

  8. Step 8: Second hugging arm

Start at the right kid's shoulder, under the first arm. Draw an arm round the friend's waist, with a hand.

Tip This arm has a sleeve line too.

  9. Step 9: Shorts and legs

From the shirt's bottom draw shorts. Under each kid draw a leg, with another leg peeking behind it.

  10. Step 10: Shoes and ground

Under each kid draw one big shoe, toes pointing at each other. Add one long ground line.

  11. Step 11: Pink cheeks, peach skin

Colour the cheeks pink. Colour the faces, arms, hands and legs peach. Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Yellow hair, red dress

Colour the right kid's hair yellow. Colour the dress and its sleeve red.

  13. Step 13: Blue shirt, brown hair

Colour the shirt and its sleeve blue. Colour the left kid's hair, the shorts and both shoes brown.
