How to Draw a Maypole
Draw a maypole in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the tall pole.
Step 1: The tall pole
From the bottom middle, draw 2 lines up side by side, stopping under a little ball you draw on top.
Step 2: The wreath
Under the ball, draw a ring of leafy bumps, starting and ending at one side, then an oval hole inside.
Step 3: Flowers on the wreath
Dot 5 little round flowers along the front of the wreath, from one side to the other.
Step 4: 2 ribbons left
From under the wreath draw 2 wavy ribbons fanning down to the left, stopping near the bottom.
Step 5: 2 to the right
From under the wreath draw 2 more wavy ribbons fanning down to the right, stopping near the bottom.
Step 6: Forked tails
At the bottom of each ribbon, start on one line and draw a little upside-down V over to the other.
Step 7: The ground
Draw a long straight ground line from the left edge to the right edge, just under the ribbon tails.
Step 8: Grass tufts
Draw 2 little grass tufts on the ground, one each side between the ribbon tails.
Step 9: Yellow ribbon, pink flowers
Go over your lines, then colour the left inside ribbon yellow and the 5 flowers pink.
Step 10: Green wreath, red ribbons
Colour the wreath green around the pink flowers, and the 2 outside ribbons red.
Step 11: Blue ribbon, brown pole
Colour the right inside ribbon blue, and the pole and ball brown. Your maypole is done!
