How to Draw a Mattress
Draw a mattress in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the front side.
Step 1: The front side
Low on your paper draw a long thin box with soft round corners.
Tip A mattress is long and low. Make the box about 4 times as wide as it is tall.
Step 2: The top
Start at the top left corner. Slant up to the right, curve round, then draw a long line across.
Tip The long line is as long as the box under it.
Step 3: The end
Carry on from the long line. Curve down a little, then slant back to the bottom right corner.
Step 4: Corner line
Start at the top right corner of the box. Draw a slanted line up to the far corner and stop.
Tip Keep it the same slant as the other 2 slanted lines.
Step 5: Trim lines
Start on the left. Draw 2 long lines along the front side and stop at the right.
Tip One line runs just under the top edge and one just above the bottom edge.
Step 6: End trim
From the end of each trim line draw a slanted line up the end. Stop at the far edge.
Step 7: Quilt lines
On the top draw 2 long lines across and 3 slanted lines. Start and stop on the edges.
Tip Slant the 3 lines the same way as the ends of the top.
Step 8: Six buttons
Draw a small round button where the lines cross. There are 6, in 2 rows of 3.
Tip The buttons hold the soft padding in place.
Step 9: Floor and shadow
Draw a floor line along the bottom of the mattress, past both ends. Add a flat curve under it.
Step 10: Cream top
Go over your lines. Colour the top cream, around the 6 buttons. Colour the shadow grey.
Step 11: Sky blue sides
Colour the front side and the end sky blue.
Step 12: Blue buttons
Colour the 6 buttons blue. Your mattress is ready for a nap!
