How to Draw a Key Lock
Draw a key lock in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: lock body.
Step 1: Lock body
On the left, below the middle, draw a chubby square with rounded corners, about a hand across.
Step 2: The shackle
Start on the top edge near the left. Draw a tall rainbow, stopping near the right. Add one inside.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the lock, above the middle, draw 2 big egg eyes with a big black dot in each.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes, draw a wide U smile. Add a small flat oval cheek beside each end.
Step 5: The keyhole
Under the smile, draw a small circle with a little slot hanging down from it.
Step 6: Key's ring
Near the right edge, level with the lock's bottom, draw a round ring with a small hole in it.
Step 7: Key's blade
From the ring, draw a narrow bar to the left, stopping before the lock. Add 2 teeth under its end.
Step 8: Floor and shadows
Draw a long floor line under the lock and key. Add a thin flat shadow oval on it under each.
Step 9: Sparkles
Draw 3 sparkle stars around the pair.
Step 10: Pink cheeks, yellow lock
Colour the cheeks pink. Colour the lock gold yellow around the eyes, cheeks and keyhole. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Gold key
Colour the key and the sparkles gold yellow, leaving the ring hole white.
Step 12: Grey and black
Colour the shackle and the shadows grey. Colour the keyhole black. Your padlock and key are done!
