How to Draw a Ballgown
Draw a ballgown in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: sweetheart top.
Step 1: Sweetheart top
Near the top middle, start on the left. Draw 2 heart-top bumps with a dip between, across to the right.
Tip Make it about 4 fingers wide.
Step 2: The bodice
From each end of the top, draw a line curving down to the waist. Join them with a gentle smile.
Step 3: Big bell skirt
From each end of the waist, swoop down and out like a bell. Join the bottoms with 9 soft bumps.
Tip The skirt is huge: stop near the bottom edge of the paper.
Step 4: Sash and bow
Under the waist, draw a sash smile from one side across to the other. Add a bow in the middle.
Step 5: Ribbon tails
Under the knot, draw 2 ribbon tails hanging down, one left and one right. Cut a V in each end.
Step 6: Two skirt tiers
Across the skirt, draw 2 sagging curves from edge to edge, one below the tails and one lower down.
Step 7: Sparkles
Draw 4 sparkle stars around the gown: two beside the bodice and two beside the skirt.
Step 8: Sky blue gown
Go over your lines. Colour the bodice and top two tiers sky blue, leaving the sash, bow and bottom tier.
Step 9: Blue tier and sash
Colour the bottom tier of the skirt blue, and colour the sash and the whole bow blue, ribbon tails too.
Step 10: Yellow sparkles
Colour the sparkles yellow, and your ballgown is done!
