How to Draw a Matcha Whisk Bowl
Draw a matcha whisk bowl in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the bowl.
Step 1: The bowl
Start at the top left. Curve a wide deep bowl round, up to the top right. Add a foot underneath.
Tip A matcha bowl is wide and round, like a big cereal bowl.
Step 2: The rim
Across the top draw a big flat oval for the rim, from the left tip round to the right tip.
Step 3: The tea
Inside the rim draw a slightly smaller flat oval for the top of the frothy tea.
Step 4: Bubbles
On the left half of the tea draw 3 tiny round bubbles of different sizes in a slanting row.
Step 5: Whisk head
A hand above the rim draw a small oval band. Bow 4 thin lines out and down into the tea.
Tip Bend them out like a balloon, then in a little where they reach the tea.
Step 6: The handle
From the band draw the handle straight up: 2 close lines with a rounded top, well above the bowl.
Step 7: More prongs
Add 3 more bowed prongs in the gaps, each from the band down to the tea. Now there are 7.
Step 8: The table
Draw a long table line under the foot, from left to right.
Step 9: Tan bowl
Go over your lines, then colour the bowl and foot tan, and the thin rim ring cream.
Step 10: Green tea, sandy whisk
Colour the tea bright green and the whisk handle and band sand, and your matcha bowl is done!
