How to Draw Soba
Draw soba in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a round tray.
Step 1: A round tray
Left of the middle draw a big round tray, half as tall as the page. Add a second round inside.
Step 2: A nest of noodles
In the middle of the tray draw a big smooth oval lying down, about two-thirds as wide as the tray.
Tip Soba is thin buckwheat noodles served cold with dipping sauce.
Step 3: Bamboo slats
Draw slat lines across the tray: a long one above and below the heap, 4 short ones rim to heap.
Step 4: Strands
Inside the heap draw 5 soft wavy lines across it, one above the other, for the noodles.
Step 5: Seaweed strips
In the middle of the noodles draw 3 short seaweed strips side by side.
Step 6: Chopsticks
In front of the tray draw 2 long thin chopsticks side by side, thinner at the left tips.
Step 7: A dipping cup
Right of the tray draw a flat oval, a U under it from end to end. Add sauce and wasabi.
Step 8: Sand noodles, cream tray
Go over your lines, then colour the noodles sand around the seaweed, and inside the tray cream.
Step 9: Wood rim and chopsticks
Colour the rim of the tray and both chopsticks wood brown.
Step 10: Green wasabi, brown sauce
Colour the wasabi dab green and the sauce brown around it. Leave the cup white.
Step 11: Black seaweed
Colour the seaweed strips black.
