How to Draw a Mars Rover
Draw a Mars rover in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the body.
Step 1: The body
Below the middle of your paper draw a long rounded box lying down, more than half the page wide.
Step 2: Three big wheels
Under the body draw 3 big wheels: one at each end, one in the middle. Add a hub circle inside.
Tip Leave a little gap between the wheels and the body.
Step 3: Neck and eyes
On the left, draw a tall neck up from the body to a box head. Add 2 big round eyes.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a small U smile. Add a small oval cheek below each eye.
Step 5: Solar panel
On top of the body draw a long flat box poking out past both ends. Add lines for little squares.
Step 6: Wheel arms
Start at the left hub. Draw a thick zigzag arm up into the body and down to each hub.
Step 7: The dish
From the panel near the right end, draw a pole up to a tipped bowl dish with a little stick.
Step 8: Wheel treads
Round the edge of each wheel draw 3 short lines pointing in, from the edge halfway to the hub.
Step 9: Rocky ground
Draw a ground line under the wheels. At each end add a bumpy rock, starting and ending on the ground.
Step 10: Pink cheeks
Colour the cheeks pink. Leave the body, arms, hubs, head, dish and eyes white.
Step 11: Ginger rocks
Colour the rocks ginger, like the dusty rocks on Mars.
Step 12: Wheels and panel
Colour the wheels slate grey and the solar panel navy. Your rover is ready to explore!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a Mars rover, drawn by you.
