How to Draw a Blue Flax
Draw a blue flax in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the middle.
Step 1: The middle
Near the top of your paper draw a small circle, as big as a grape.
Step 2: Three petals
From the circle draw a wide round petal up and back to the circle. Add one up-right and one up-left.
Tip Each petal starts thin at the circle and gets wide like a fan.
Step 3: Two more petals
From the circle draw the same petal pointing down-right, then down-left, each back to the circle. 5 petals!
Step 4: Petal lines
On each petal draw 1 short line. Start on the middle circle and stop halfway along the petal.
Tip Flax petals have fine dark lines. Keep them short and straight.
Step 5: The stem
Start under the flower. Draw 2 gently curving lines down, a little apart, and stop near the bottom.
Step 6: Thin leaves
Draw 4 thin pointed leaves on the stem, 2 on each side, all pointing up.
Tip Flax leaves are narrow, like blades of grass.
Step 7: Ground and grass
Draw a soft ground line across near the bottom. Add 2 grass blades each side, not touching the stem.
Step 8: Yellow middle
Go over your lines. Colour the small circle in the middle yellow.
Step 9: Blue petals
Colour all 5 petals blue, right up to the yellow middle.
Step 10: Green stem and leaves
Colour the stem and the 4 leaves green. Your blue flax is done!
