How to Draw Mapo Tofu
Draw mapo tofu in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rim.
Step 1: The rim
A little above the middle draw a wide oval, about a hand wide. This is the top of the pot.
Step 2: The clay pot
Start at the left end of the oval. Draw the pot bulging like a ball, stopping at the right end.
Tip Mapo tofu is soft tofu cubes in spicy red sauce, served bubbling hot.
Step 3: Two handles
On each side of the pot draw a small ear-shaped handle. Start on the side and stop on the side.
Step 4: The soup
Inside the rim draw a second oval, a finger inside it, for the red sauce.
Step 5: Tofu cubes
In the sauce draw 4 tilted blocks with soft corners, different sizes, for cubes of tofu.
Step 6: Mince
Between the tofu cubes draw 3 tiny wobbly lumps for the mince.
Step 7: Spring onion
In the gaps draw 2 tiny strips and 1 tiny circle for spring onion, not touching the tofu.
Step 8: Steam
Above the pot draw 2 wiggly steam lines going up.
Step 9: The table
Draw a line under the pot, from well left to well right.
Step 10: Ginger clay pot
Go over your lines. Colour the pot, its rim and both handles ginger, like baked clay.
Step 11: Red sauce, white tofu
Colour the sauce red, around the tofu, mince and onion. Leave the tofu white.
Step 12: Green onion, brown mince
Colour the spring onion green and the mince brown.
