How to Draw Risotto
Draw risotto in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rim.
Step 1: The rim
Above the middle draw a very wide oval for the top of a shallow bowl, wider than your hand.
Step 2: The bowl
Start at the left end of the oval. Draw a shallow U down and round, stopping at the right end.
Step 3: The foot
Under the bowl draw a short stand. Start on the bottom left, go down and across, stop on the right.
Step 4: The rice
Inside the rim draw a second oval a finger inside it, all the way round, for the creamy rice.
Step 5: Mushroom slices
On the rice draw 2 mushroom slices, each a dome on a short stem, big top left, small lower right.
Tip Risotto is creamy rice stirred slowly with stock.
Step 6: Cheese shavings
Draw 2 flat tilted cheese strips on the rice, one low on the left, one on the right.
Step 7: Parsley
Right of the middle draw a short parsley stem with 3 big round leaves at the top, on open rice.
Step 8: Rice grains
Draw 6 tiny thin rice grains on the open rice, between the toppings.
Step 9: Steam
Above the bowl draw 2 wiggly steam lines going up, starting a little above the rim.
Step 10: Bowl stripe
Start on the left side of the bowl under the rim. Draw a bowed stripe round to the right side.
Step 11: The table
Draw a long straight table line just touching the bottom of the foot, from left to right.
Step 12: Cream rice, brown mushrooms
Go over your lines, then colour the rice and rim cream around the toppings, and the mushrooms brown.
Step 13: Green parsley, navy band
Colour the parsley green and the band under the rim navy, leaving the cheese and the bowl white.
