How to Draw a Maple Leaf
Draw a maple leaf in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the right half.
Step 1: The right half
Start at a point near the top. Zigzag down the right side with sharp teeth, stopping at the bottom middle.
Tip Three big points: the top, the side and a small one at the bottom.
Step 2: The left half
Start at the bottom middle and draw the same zigzag up the left side, back to the top point.
Step 3: The stem
Start on the leaf's bottom point. Draw a thin stem down, finger long, and back up to the leaf.
Step 4: Three veins
From the stem draw a straight vein up to the top point, stopping just short. One to each side point.
Step 5: Side veins
Off the middle vein draw short side veins slanting up and out like fish bones, 2 each side.
Step 6: More side veins
Off each big side vein draw 2 more short veins slanting out towards the teeth.
Step 7: A helicopter seed
Low on the left draw a small egg. From its top draw a long thin wing, back to the egg.
Step 8: Ground and grass
Draw a ground line under the stem and seed, from the left edge to the right edge. Add grass blades.
Step 9: Red leaf
Colour the big leaf bright red, right to every point.
Step 10: Brown stem, tan seed
Colour the stem brown and the seed and wing tan. Go over your lines and your maple leaf is done!
