How to Draw a Lumberjack

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a lumberjack in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper draw an egg head, a little narrower at the chin.

Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and legs.

  2. Step 2: The face

Below the middle of the head draw 2 small oval eyes. Add a tiny U nose and a smile.

  3. Step 3: Woolly hat

Draw a woolly hat over the head. Add a folded band and a fluffy, bumpy pompom on top.

  4. Step 4: Big beard

Under the mouth draw a big bushy beard from cheek to cheek, a wide U down onto the chest.

Tip Rub out the chin line inside the beard.

  5. Step 5: Plaid shirt

Under the beard draw a boxy shirt with wide shoulders. Add plaid lines: 2 across, 2 down.

  6. Step 6: Two bent sleeves

Left sleeve: down, then bending in across the body. Right sleeve: out to the elbow, then back up.

  7. Step 7: Two fists

At each sleeve's end draw a round fist, one low by the tummy, one up by the shoulder.

  8. Step 8: Log on the shoulder

Draw a big log through both fists, slanting up right past the shoulder, with an oval end on top.

Tip A smaller oval in the end makes rings. Rub out the log inside fists.

  9. Step 9: Trousers

Start at the shirt's bottom left. Draw 2 long trouser legs with a point between. Stop at the bottom right.

  10. Step 10: Boots and ground

Under each leg draw a tall boot, toe pointing out, with a heel block. Add a ground line underneath.

  11. Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour the face and hands peach, and the cheeks pink. Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Ginger beard, brown log

Colour the beard ginger, and the log and boots brown.

  13. Step 13: Red shirt, navy trousers

Colour the hat and shirt red around the beard, hands and log, and the trousers navy. Your lumberjack is done!

    Tip Leave the pompom white.
