How to Draw a Chibi Mermaid

Step 1: Big round head

Near the top, a little to the left, draw a big round head, wider than tall.

Tip A chibi head is huge: about half of the whole mermaid.

Step 2: Huge shiny eyes

On the head, draw 2 huge oval eyes. Add a ring, a black pupil and 2 shines in each.

Tip Huge shiny eyes make it chibi.

Step 3: Little smile

Between the eyes, a little lower, draw a small U smile.

Step 4: Hair on top

Draw the hair over the top of the head. Add a fringe that parts in the middle like 2 curtains.

Tip Rub out the top of the head inside the hair.

Step 5: Long hair

From the hair on top, draw long hair down each side. Curl each end in a little and stop.

Tip Make both sides match.

Step 6: Arms and body

Start under the chin. Draw a short arm out to a mitten hand, back in, then down. Do both sides.

Tip The body is tiny next to the head.

Step 7: Simple top

Start on the left side of the body. Draw 2 curved lines across and stop on the right side.

Step 8: Curled tail

Start at the waist. Draw a thick tail down, round to the right and up. Stop at a thin tip.

Tip The tail gets thinner all the way to the tip.

Step 9: Tail fin

Start at the tip of the tail. Draw 2 pointed leaf shapes with a dip between. Stop at the tip.

Step 10: Scales and ground

Start on one side of the tail. Draw 3 rows of U scales across it. Add a ground line.

Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour the face, arms and body peach. Add 2 pink oval cheeks. Leave the hair, top and tail white.

Step 12: Pink top

Colour the top pink, between the 2 curved lines.

Step 13: Teal tail and eyes

Colour the tail and fin teal. Colour the rings in the eyes teal too. Leave the eye whites white.

Step 14: Purple hair

Colour all the hair purple. Your chibi mermaid is done!
