How to Draw an Inside a Flower
Draw an inside a flower in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: two side petals.
Step 1: Two side petals
Draw 2 tall petals leaning apart like a V, with pointed bottoms. Leave a wide gap between them.
Tip Make both petals the same height.
Step 2: Back petal
From the inside edge of the left petal, near its top, draw a pointed hill over to the right petal.
Step 3: Bowl and stem
Join the bottoms of the petals with a straight line. Under it draw a small bowl, then a stem down.
Step 4: The pistil
Standing in the middle of the bowl, draw a fat bulb with a long neck and a round knob.
Tip The fat bulb at the bottom is called the ovary.
Step 5: Seeds inside
Draw 3 tiny ovals in a row up the middle of the bulb. This is where seeds grow.
Step 6: Four stamens
From the top of the bowl draw 2 thin lines up each side of the bulb, leaning outwards.
Step 7: Pollen tips
Top each thin line with a long oval. These hold the pollen.
Step 8: Two sepals
Under each petal draw a pointed leaf growing out from the side of the bowl.
Tip Sepals wrapped the flower when it was a bud.
Step 9: Label lines
Rule 5 lines out to the sides: from a petal, the pistil, a pollen tip, a sepal and the stem.
Tip Write the names at the ends of the lines.
Step 10: Yellow pollen
Colour the 4 pollen tips and the 3 tiny seeds yellow.
Step 11: Purple petals
Colour all 3 petals purple, around the stamens and the pistil.
Step 12: Light green pistil
Colour the pistil light green, around the seeds.
Step 13: Dark green parts
Go over your lines. Colour the 2 sepals, the bowl and the stem dark green.
