How to Draw a Lion Walking
Draw a lion walking in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big round head.
Step 1: Big round head
Near the top left, draw a big round head, a little wider than tall. Leave room on the right.
Tip The head is about as big as the body is deep.
Step 2: Eyes and nose
Draw 2 big oval eyes, then an egg snout. From its black nose, draw a line down to a smile.
Tip The eyes sit on the middle of the head.
Step 3: Round ears
On each top corner of the head, draw a round cookie ear with a smaller curve inside.
Step 4: The neck
Start behind the head and under the chin. Draw 2 neck lines down to the body.
Step 5: Bean body
From the bottom of the neck, draw a big soft bean body: a long back, a round bottom, a tummy.
Step 6: The mane
All round the head, draw a big ring of soft bumps, like a sun. Start and end behind the cheeks.
Step 7: Two walking legs
Draw a low ground line. Add a front leg under the chest and a back leg under the bottom.
Tip Make each leg thinner at the ankle, then add a plump round paw on the ground.
Step 8: Far legs
Behind each near leg, draw a slimmer far leg peeking out, with its own paw. Leave a gap between paws.
Step 9: Tufty tail
From the top corner of the bottom, draw a thin tail hanging down. Add a leaf tuft at the end.
Step 10: Colour it sand
Go over your lines. Colour the lion sand and the snout cream. Keep the eyes white.
Step 11: Colour the mane
Colour the ear insides peach. Colour the mane and tail tuft ginger, around the sand face.
