How to Draw a Lily Pad
Draw a lily pad in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the pad.
Step 1: The pad
Start at a spot in the middle. Draw a huge circle back to the spot, leaving a V notch.
Tip The notch is like a slice cut out of a pie.
Step 2: Veins on the left
From the spot draw 3 straight veins fanning up and to the left, stopping short of the edge.
Step 3: Veins on the right
From the spot draw 4 more veins fanning down and right. Stop one halfway, the rest short of the edge.
Step 4: A little flower
On the lower right, at the end of the short vein, draw 5 plump petals round a spot.
Step 5: The middle
Right on the spot in the middle of the flower draw a small circle.
Step 6: A pad behind
At the top left draw a smaller pad with its own V notch, tucked behind the big one.
Step 7: Ripples on the left
On the lower left, draw 2 short wavy water lines, a finger from the pad.
Step 8: Ripples on the right
On the lower right, draw 2 more wavy lines to match, so the pad floats in water.
Step 9: Pink flower
Colour the little middle yellow and the 5 petals pink.
Step 10: Green pads
Colour both pads leaf green, going around the flower. Go over your lines and your lily pad is done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a lily pad, drawn by you.
