How to Draw a Hydrangea
Draw a hydrangea in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big ball.
Step 1: The big ball
Near the top of your paper draw a big round ball of soft bumps, as big as an orange.
Tip Keep the bumps small and even so the ball stays round.
Step 2: The middle flower
In the middle of the ball draw 1 little flower: 4 round bumps in a ring, with a dot inside.
Step 3: Three more flowers
Round the middle flower draw 3 more the same size: right, bottom right and bottom left, each with a dot.
Step 4: Fill the ball
Draw 3 more flowers: left, top left and top right, each with its dot. Now 7 fill the ball.
Step 5: The stem
Start close together under the ball and draw 2 lines down, stopping a little wider apart near the bottom.
Step 6: Two leaves
From the stem below the ball draw a fat leaf pointing left, back to the stem. Same on the right.
Step 7: Leaf veins
Start on the stem in the middle of each leaf. Draw a curved vein out, stopping short of the tip.
Step 8: Ground and grass
Draw a ground line from near the left edge to near the right. Add 2 grass blades each side.
Step 9: A ladybug
On the left leaf draw a round ladybug with a small head, a middle line and 4 spots.
Step 10: Yellow dots
Colour the dot in the middle of every little flower yellow.
Step 11: Sky-blue ball
Colour the whole ball sky blue, right into every bump, around the little flowers.
Step 12: Blue flowers
Colour every little flower blue around its yellow dot, right into its 4 bumps.
Step 13: Green stem and leaves
Colour the stem and leaves green around the ladybug, then the ladybug red with a black head.
