How to Draw a Lightning Bolt
Draw a lightning bolt in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a fluffy cloud.
Step 1: A fluffy cloud
Start near the top left. Draw 5 round bumps over to the right, then 3 flat bumps back under.
Step 2: The bolt
Start under the cloud. Draw a zigzag bolt down to a sharp point, then zigzag back up to the cloud.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the wide top of the bolt draw 2 big eggy eyes. Colour a black dot in each.
Step 4: A big smile
Under the eyes draw a wide U smile from one eye to the other, with the ends turning up.
Step 5: Little sparks
Beside the pointy tip draw 3 tiny zigzag sparks, each a little lightning bolt of its own.
Step 6: Two raindrops
Under the cloud, one each side of the bolt, draw a little raindrop falling, point at the top.
Step 7: Pink cheeks
Colour 2 rosy pink cheeks under the eyes, just past each end of the smile.
Step 8: Yellow bolt
Colour the bolt yellow, going around the eyes, the smile and the pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 9: White cloud
Colour the fluffy cloud white, right up to its bumpy edge.
Step 10: Blue raindrops
Colour the 2 raindrops blue. Go over your lines and your lightning bolt is done!
