How to Draw a Lighthouse
Draw a lighthouse in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the tower.
Step 1: The tower
In the middle of your paper draw a tall tower, narrower at the top than the bottom.
Tip Leave room above for the lamp and below for the rock.
Step 2: The walkway
On top of the tower draw a wide flat box for the walkway, a little wider than the tower top.
Step 3: The railing
Start on the walkway. Draw 5 short posts up, then a rail across their tops. Stop at the last post.
Step 4: Lamp room
Start on the walkway a little in from the left. Draw up, across, and down to the walkway.
Step 5: Dome and spike
Start at the left of the lamp room top. Bulge up and over a round dome, down to the right.
Step 6: Door and windows
At the bottom of the tower draw an arched door. Up the tower draw 2 small rainbow windows.
Step 7: Three stripes
Across the tower draw 3 wide stripes, each 2 lines from edge to edge. Skip the door and windows.
Step 8: The rock
Start low on the left. Draw a lumpy rock up, across the tower's foot, and stop low on the right.
Tip Rub out the tower lines inside the rock.
Step 9: The sea
Start near the left edge. Draw a wavy line along the rock's foot, stopping near the right edge.
Step 10: Light beams
Just out from each side of the lamp room, draw 2 beams of light, one slanting up, one straight out.
Step 11: Yellow lamp, grey rock
Colour the lamp room yellow, like a light glowing, and the rock grey.
Step 12: Red stripes and dome
Colour the 3 stripes and the dome red, skipping the door. Leave the rest of the tower white.
Step 13: Blue sea, wooden door
Colour all the sea under the wavy line blue and the door wood brown. Go over your lines.
