How to Draw a Lifeguard

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a lifeguard in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper, in the middle, draw an egg head, a little narrower at the chin.

Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and the sand.

  2. Step 2: The face

Draw 2 big eyes, a U nose and a smile. Add C ears, starting and stopping on the head.

  3. Step 3: Curly hair

Start on the head's left side. Draw round curls over the top, stop on the right. Add a hairline.

  4. Step 4: Neck and T-shirt

Draw 2 neck lines under the chin. From the left one, draw a T-shirt, back up to the right one.

  5. Step 5: Whistle on a cord

Start on one shoulder by the neck, draw a V cord to the other. Add a whistle at the bottom.

Tip A whistle is a little ball with a flat mouthpiece sticking out.

  6. Step 6: Arms

From each sleeve, draw 2 lines down to the wrist with a soft elbow, getting narrower.

  7. Step 7: Mitten hands

At each wrist, start on one arm line, draw a mitten with a thumb pointing in, stop on the other.

  8. Step 8: Swim shorts

Start at the T-shirt's bottom left corner. Draw swim shorts, pointed between the legs, back up to the right corner.

  9. Step 9: Legs

From the shorts, draw 2 lines for each leg, getting narrower down to the ankle.

  10. Step 10: Bare feet and sand

For each foot, start on one leg line, draw 3 toe bumps and a round heel, stop on the other.

Tip Then draw a sand line under both feet, from side to side.

  11. Step 11: Rescue tube

Draw a long rounded tube standing on the sand on the right, going up behind the hand.

Tip Lifeguards swim out with this tube to help people.

  12. Step 12: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour the face, ears, neck, arms, hands, legs and feet peach, with pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white.

  13. Step 13: Yellow whistle, tan sand

Colour the whistle yellow. Colour the sand tan, from the sand line to the bottom.

  14. Step 14: Red clothes, brown hair

Colour the T-shirt, shorts and tube red, around the whistle and hand. Colour the hair brown.

Tip Go over your lines, and your lifeguard is ready!
