How to Draw a Confused Face

Draw a confused face in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Step 1: The head
A little left of the middle, draw a big soft egg for the head, narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave some room on the right for a question mark.
Step 2: Two ears
Each ear starts and stops on the side of the head, like a C. Add a smaller C inside.
Step 3: Puzzled eyes
Below the middle of the head draw 2 big round eyes. Add a black dot, up and right, in each.
Tip Both dots look the same way, as if the eyes are searching for the answer.
Step 4: Mixed-up eyebrows
Draw a high rainbow eyebrow over the right eye, and a low straight one over the left, sloping inwards.
Tip One eyebrow up and one down is what makes a face look confused. Keep both off the eyes.
Step 5: Nose and wavy mouth
Draw a small U nose. Under it, start at the left and draw a wavy line, stopping at the right.
Step 6: Hair on top
Start above the left ear. Draw hair up and over the head with one dip, stopping above the right ear.
Step 7: Swept fringe
From the hair's left end, sweep a fringe up to a point, then down. Rub out the head line above.
Tip A fringe is the hair that falls over the forehead.
Step 8: Neck and shirt
Under the chin draw 2 short neck lines. From each, slope a shoulder out and down. Add a V collar.
Step 9: Question mark
Beside the head draw a fat question mark: a hook curling over and down, then a round dot under it.
Tip A question mark shows that someone is puzzled.
Step 10: Pink cheeks, peach skin
Colour the cheeks pink. Colour the face, ears and neck peach, around the cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Teal shirt, purple mark
Colour the shirt teal and the question mark purple.
Step 12: Brown hair
Colour the hair brown. Go over your lines and your confused face is done.
