How to Draw a Life Ring
Draw a life ring in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big ring.
Step 1: The big ring
In the middle of your paper draw one BIG round circle, almost as wide as the page.
Tip Press lightly first, then go round again to smooth it.
Step 2: The hole
Inside the big circle draw a smaller circle in the middle for the hole, leaving a fat ring.
Step 3: Top and bottom bands
At the top of the ring draw 2 short lines a thumb apart, hole to edge. Same at the bottom.
Step 4: Side bands
Draw the same 2 short lines across the ring on the left and on the right, like a clock.
Step 5: 4 eyelets
Between the bands, on the outside edge of the ring, draw 4 little circles, one in each corner.
Step 6: The rope
Start at one eyelet and draw a thick rope, 2 lines, loose outside the ring to the next. Do 4.
Tip The rope hangs loose, like a smile between each pair.
Step 7: A shine
At the ring's top left draw a short curve following the ring, like a rainbow. Add a tiny circle.
Step 8: The waves
Start at the left edge. Draw wave bumps over the ring's bottom to the right edge. Add a lower row.
Tip Rub out the ring and rope under the waves, so the ring floats in the water.
Step 9: Tan rope, blue sea
Go over your lines. Colour the rope and eyelets tan. Colour the sea blue to the edges and bottom.
Step 10: Red bands
Colour the 4 bands red and leave the rest of the ring white. Your life ring is done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a life ring, drawn by you.
