How to Draw a Library
Draw a library in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the building.
Step 1: The building
Start low, left of the middle. Draw up, across the top, and down; stop level with the start.
Step 2: The base
Start on the bottom left corner. Draw a wide base out, down, across and up, then back along the bottom.
Step 3: The roof triangle
On top of the block, in the middle, draw a wide triangle like a hat.
Step 4: An open book
In the triangle draw an open book, 2 pages dipping to the middle. Add 2 lines on each page.
Tip An open book on the front tells everyone it is a library.
Step 5: Two columns
Draw 2 tall columns with caps, either side of the middle. Add a line wall to wall under the caps.
Step 6: The doors
Between the columns draw a tall door with a rainbow top. Add a line down its middle.
Step 7: Arched windows
On each side, outside the columns, draw a tall arched window with a line down its middle.
Step 8: Steps and ground
Under the doors draw 2 steps, the bottom one wider. Draw the ground from the base to each edge.
Step 9: Lamps
At each edge start on the ground. Draw a lamp post straight up, stopping under a small round lamp.
Step 10: Cream walls, sky windows
Go over your lines. Leave the columns and triangle white. Colour the walls cream and the windows sky blue.
Step 11: Stone base, wood doors
Colour the base and the steps stone grey and the doors wood brown.
Step 12: Red book
Colour the open book red, and your library is done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a library, drawn by you.
