How to Draw a First Haircut

16 steps · Tricky · about 12 min

Draw a first haircut in 16 steps, about 12 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper, a little left, draw an egg for the head, narrower at the chin.

Tip The kid sits in a tall chair and the barber stands on the right.

  2. Step 2: The face

Inside the head draw 2 round eyes with big dots, a tiny nose and a smile under it.

  3. Step 3: C ears

Start on each side of the head by the eyes. Draw a C ear out and back to the head.

  4. Step 4: Tufty hair

Start at the left of the head. Draw soft tufts over to the right, then curve back across the forehead.

  5. Step 5: Neck and cape

Draw 2 neck lines from the chin down to the shoulders. Round them draw a tent cape with 3 stripes.

Tip The cape covers the arms, so there are no hands on the kid.

  6. Step 6: Barber chair

Draw a flat seat under the cape. From it draw a footrest, then a post down to a wide base.

  7. Step 7: Barber's head

On the right draw the barber's egg head, then tufty hair from its left over to its right.

  8. Step 8: Barber's face

Draw 2 round eyes with big dots, a tiny nose, a curly moustache under it and a smile below.

  9. Step 9: Shirt and apron

From his chin draw 2 neck lines down to a shirt with one sleeve up, then an apron.

  10. Step 10: Arms and fists

From the raised sleeve bend an arm up to a fist. Bend the other arm across the apron.

Tip Each arm is wider at the top and bends at the elbow.

  11. Step 11: Scissors and tuft

Draw a tuft poking up from the kid's hair. From the fist draw 2 open blades round it, loops behind.

Tip The scissors snip high above the face.

  12. Step 12: Trousers and shoes

From the bottom of his shirt draw 2 trouser legs down to his feet, with a shoe under each.

  13. Step 13: Ground and clippings

Start left of the chair and draw a ground line to the right. Add 2 curly hair clippings on it.

  14. Step 14: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour both faces, necks and the fists peach, with a pink circle on each cheek.

    Tip Leave the eyes white.

  15. Step 15: Blue cape and shirt

Colour the cape and the shirt sky blue, with a darker blue middle stripe. Leave the apron and shoes white.

  16. Step 16: Red chair, brown hair

Colour the chair red, and the hair, moustache, clippings and trousers brown. Your first haircut is done!
