How to Draw a Letterman Jacket

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a letterman jacket in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the neck hole.

Print

  1. Step 1: The neck hole

Near the top draw a small rainbow. From its left end draw a U down to its right end.

    Tip About 3 fingers wide.

  2. Step 2: The body

Slope out from each rainbow end to a shoulder, then down a long side. Join with a flat hem.

Tip Make both sides match, like a vest.

  3. Step 3: Two sleeves

From each shoulder draw a long sleeve hanging down and out. End it flat, then come up to the side.

  4. Step 4: The collar

Under the neck hole draw a bigger U, from the left shoulder across to the right shoulder.

Tip Keep it a finger away from the first U all the way round.

  5. Step 5: The front

From the bottom of the neck hole draw a straight line down to the hem.

  6. Step 6: Snap buttons

Draw 4 small round snaps down the front line, with even gaps.

  7. Step 7: Cuffs and waistband

Near each sleeve end draw a line from edge to edge. Draw one across the body above the hem.

  8. Step 8: Stripe lines

Draw one more line along the middle of the collar, of each cuff and of the waistband.

Tip Now every band has two stripes.

  9. Step 9: A big letter

On one side of the chest draw a big block letter A with a little triangle window.

Tip You can draw the first letter of your own name instead.

  10. Step 10: Two pockets

Lower down draw a thin slanted pocket on each side of the front line.

  11. Step 11: The hanger

From the top of the rainbow draw a short line up to a hook. Draw a rail through the hook.

  12. Step 12: Cream sleeves

Colour both sleeves cream, down to the cuff lines. Colour the two pockets cream too.

  13. Step 13: Yellow stripes

Colour the letter and the snaps yellow. Colour one stripe of each band yellow, the one nearest the body.

  14. Step 14: Blue jacket

Colour the body, the other stripes and the neck hole blue, going around the letter, snaps and pockets.
