How to Draw a Plate Stack
Draw a plate stack in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: top plate.
Step 1: Top plate
Above the middle draw a long flat oval. Under it draw a wide smile from end to end.
Tip Keep the oval long and flat, like a plate seen from a little above.
Step 2: 2 big eyes
Draw 2 egg eyes on the top oval, one eye apart. Colour a black dot in each, leaving a shine.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a little U smile. Add a small flat oval cheek beside each end of the smile.
Step 4: Second plate
Just under the top plate draw a lower smile from end to end, with a little point at each end.
Step 5: 2 more plates
Draw 2 more plates the same way, each a lower smile with a little point at each end.
Step 6: Bottom plate
Draw 1 more smile under them for the bottom plate. Now there are 5 plates.
Step 7: The table
Draw a long table line under the stack, just touching the bottom plate.
Step 8: Sparkles
Draw a small 4-point sparkle above each end of the top plate.
Step 9: White plates
Go over your lines. Colour every plate white, and leave the eyes white too.
Step 10: Sky rim
Colour a thin sky-blue band round the top oval's edge, and a thin sky line along each plate below.
Step 11: Pink cheeks, yellow sparkles
Colour the cheeks pink and the sparkles yellow. Your stack of plates is ready for dinner!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a plate stack, drawn by you.
