13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a leprechaun hat in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: flat top.

Print

  1. Step 1: Flat top

Near the top of your paper, draw a flat oval about a hand-width across.

Tip A wide flat oval like a squashed circle.

  2. Step 2: The tall crown

From each end of the oval, draw a line down. Stop below the middle and join with a smile.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

On the crown, a little above the middle, draw 2 big egg eyes an eye apart, with black dots.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes, draw a wide U smile from the left eye to the right. Add cheeks at each end.

  5. Step 5: The wide brim

Start at the crown's bottom-left corner. Draw a long flat brim out left, under, and stop at the bottom-right corner.

Tip Wider than the crown on both sides, like a plate.

  6. Step 6: Thick brim

Start at the left tip of the brim. Draw a second smile a finger lower, out to the right tip.

  7. Step 7: The hat band

Start on the left of the crown, a thumb above the bottom. Draw a smile across to the right side.

  8. Step 8: The buckle

In the middle of the band, draw a square buckle a little taller than the band, with a square inside.

  9. Step 9: A lucky shamrock

Above the band on the right, draw a shamrock of 3 circles, its stem touching the band. Add 2 sparkles.

  10. Step 10: The ground

Start out on the left and draw one long straight ground line under the brim, stopping out on the right.

  11. Step 11: Yellow and pink

Colour the buckle and the sparkles yellow, and the cheeks pink. Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Green hat

Colour the shamrock light green, then the top, crown and brim green around the face, shamrock and buckle.

  13. Step 13: Black band

Go over your lines, then colour the band black around the buckle. Your leprechaun hat is done!
