How to Draw a Ladder
Draw a ladder in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the left rail.
Step 1: The left rail
Start near the bottom left. Draw a tall thin bar straight up to near the top, a finger wide.
Tip Keep both rails straight up and down, so every rung sits level.
Step 2: The right rail
Draw a second bar just like the first, a hand to the right, also standing straight up.
Step 3: Top and bottom rungs
Near the top draw a thin rung from the left rail across to the right rail. Same near the bottom.
Step 4: Middle rungs
Draw 3 more rungs evenly spaced between them, each starting on the left rail and stopping on the right.
Step 5: The ground
Draw a ground line along the bottom of the paper, under both rails.
Step 6: A small bucket
Right of the ladder, leaving a gap, draw a small bucket with a flat rim and a box narrowing down.
Step 7: Bucket handle
Start on the left of the rim. Draw a rainbow up and over to the right of the rim.
Step 8: A paint drip
Start under the rim, near the left. Draw a short drip down to a blob and back up.
Step 9: Sky paint drip
Colour the paint drip sky blue.
Step 10: Wooden ladder
Colour both rails and all the rungs wood brown.
Step 11: Red bucket, grey rim
Colour the bucket red, around the drip, and the rim grey. Your ladder is done!
