How to Draw a Leek
Draw a leek in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the stalk.
Step 1: The stalk
Draw a tall slim stalk with a round bottom. Near its top draw a line from side to side.
Tip Keep it slim: a leek is long and thin.
Step 2: Two big eyes
On the white part draw 2 big egg eyes. Add a black dot and a shine in each.
Tip Nothing else touches the eyes.
Step 3: The smile
Under the eyes draw a wide U smile.
Step 4: The middle leaf
From the top of the stalk draw 1 long flat leaf straight up to a soft point.
Step 5: Two side leaves
Draw 2 more long flat leaves from the top, one leaning left and one right, tucked behind the middle leaf.
Step 6: Two outer leaves
Draw 1 more leaf each side that arches out and flops down at the tip, tucked behind the others.
Step 7: Leaf lines
Draw 1 line up the middle of each of the 3 middle leaves, stopping before the point.
Step 8: Roots
Start on the round bottom and draw 5 short wiggly roots going down, spreading out like a mop.
Step 9: The ground
Draw a long ground line from far left to far right, just touching the root tips.
Step 10: Light green top
Go over your lines, then colour the top of the stalk, above the line, light green.
Step 11: Green leaves
Colour all 5 leaves green. Leave the rest of the stalk and the eyes white.
Step 12: Pink cheeks
Colour a pink cheek beside each end of the smile, and your leek is done!
