How to Draw a Baguette

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a baguette in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a board.

Print

  1. Step 1: A board

In the middle of your paper draw a long flat oval, most of the way across.

Tip The board comes first; the loaf lies on it.

  2. Step 2: The board's edge

Start at the left end of the oval. Draw a curve just under the front to its right end.

  3. Step 3: The loaf

On the board draw a long thin loaf with a round top, a flatter bottom and soft pointed ends.

Tip A baguette gets thinner toward both pointy ends.

  4. Step 4: 2 slashes

On the left half of the loaf draw 2 little slanted almond shapes, leaning across it.

  5. Step 5: 2 more slashes

Draw 2 more slanted almonds on the right half, all leaning the same way.

  6. Step 6: A shine

Near the left end, just under the top edge, draw a short curve along it for a shine.

  7. Step 7: The table

Draw a table line under the board from far left to far right, just touching its bottom.

  8. Step 8: Tan loaf

Go over your lines, then colour the loaf tan around the 4 slashes.

  9. Step 9: Ginger slashes

Colour inside the 4 slashes ginger, a toasty brown.

  10. Step 10: Wood board

Colour the board wood brown around the loaf, then its edge darker. Your baguette is done!
