How to Draw a Leafy Sea Dragon
Draw a leafy sea dragon in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: eye and snout.
Step 1: Eye and snout
Up high, draw 1 huge round eye. Start left of it, draw a long sideways U snout, stop just below.
Tip The snout is twice as long as the eye is wide.
Step 2: Round head
Start at the top of the snout. Draw a big rainbow over the eye, stopping at the neck.
Step 3: S body
Start at the chin. Draw a C tummy, stopping at a narrow tail base. Add the back from the neck.
Step 4: Curly tail
Start at the end of the back. Curl the tail down and forward like a snail, back to the tummy.
Step 5: Sail fin
Start on the back below the neck. Draw a sail leaning back, ending on the back. Add 2 rays.
Step 6: Cheek fin
On the back of the head, level with the snout, draw a tiny leaf fin pointing back.
Step 7: Head frond
Start on the back of the head. Draw a pointed leaf growing up and back, ending on the head.
Step 8: Leafy fronds
Draw 4 more pointed leaves, 2 on the back and 2 on the tummy, each from the body back to it.
Tip Add a line down the middle of each leaf.
Step 9: Bubbles
In front of the snout, draw 3 bubbles floating up, small to big.
Step 10: Sand and seaweed
Draw a wavy sand line across the bottom. Grow 2 wavy seaweeds on the left, 1 on the right.
Step 11: Yellow dragon
Colour the head, snout, body and tail yellow, leaving the eye white. Add a pink cheek dot.
Step 12: Green fins, sandy floor
Colour the sail fin and cheek fin light green. Colour the floor under the sand line sandy.
Step 13: Green leaves, blue bubbles
Colour all 5 leaves and the seaweed dark green, and the bubbles light blue.
