How to Draw a Spring Peeper

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a spring peeper in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: head and body.

Print

  1. Step 1: Head and body

Draw one big smooth egg on its side, tipped up, with the snout high on the left.

  2. Step 2: The big eye

Draw one big circle eye on top of the head, poking up above the head line. Add a black dot.

  3. Step 3: Smile and nostril

Start at the snout tip. Draw a smile back under the eye, turning up at the end. Add a nostril.

  4. Step 4: Puffed throat

Start under the snout. Draw a big round balloon under the chin and stop on the chest.

  5. Step 5: The big thigh

On the back of the body draw a big egg lying sideways for the thigh, poking out behind and below.

  6. Step 6: Long back foot

From under the thigh draw a long flat foot pointing forward. End it in 3 toes with round pads.

  7. Step 7: The front leg

Start on the chest behind the throat. Draw a chunky front leg bending down to 3 toes with round pads.

  8. Step 8: The twig

Under the feet draw a long thin twig with round ends, wider than the frog.

  9. Step 9: The back X

On the back, between the eye and the thigh, draw a fat X like 2 crossed sticks.

  10. Step 10: Tan frog

Go over your lines. Colour the head, body and legs tan, around the X. Leave the eye white.

  11. Step 11: Cream throat, brown X

Colour the puffed throat cream. Colour the X on the back brown.

  12. Step 12: Brown twig

Colour the twig brown around the feet. Your spring peeper is done!
