How to Draw a Ladle

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a ladle in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the cup.

Print

  1. Step 1: The cup

Below and left of the middle draw 1 wide flat oval for the top of the ladle's cup.

Tip A ladle's cup is a deep little bowl; we start with its round top.

  2. Step 2: The deep cup

Start at the oval's left end. Draw a deep U under it, back up to the oval's right end.

Tip Make it as deep as the oval is wide: a ladle scoops a lot.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

On the front of the cup, below the oval, draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a black dot in each.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes draw a wide U smile, and a small flat oval cheek beside each end of the smile.

  5. Step 5: The inside

Inside the top oval draw a second smaller oval, a finger in from the edge: the inside of the cup.

  6. Step 6: The long handle

From the right end of the oval draw 2 long lines up right, a finger apart, for the handle.

Tip Make them 3 cups long.

  7. Step 7: The hook

Start at the top of the right line. Curl a hook over and back, and stop at the left line.

Tip The hook lets it hang on a rail.

  8. Step 8: Sparkles

Draw a little 4-point sparkle left of the cup and a smaller one right of the handle.

  9. Step 9: Pink cheeks, yellow sparkles

Go over your lines, then colour the cheeks pink and the sparkles yellow.

  10. Step 10: Grey rim

Colour the rim, the ring between the 2 ovals, light grey.

  11. Step 11: Orange soup

Colour the soup inside the small oval orange.

  12. Step 12: Slate ladle

Colour the cup and handle slate around the cheeks, leaving the eyes white. Your ladle is ready!
