How to Draw a Lab Coat
Draw a lab coat in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the coat.
Step 1: The coat
In the middle draw a tall coat with a curved neck and sloping shoulders, down to the ground.
Tip A lab coat is the long white coat scientists wear, with pockets of pens.
Step 2: Two eyes
On the left of the chest draw 2 round eyes. Colour a black dot in each, leaving a white shine.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a tiny U smile, and a tiny oval cheek beside each end of the smile.
Step 4: Lapels
From each end of the neck draw a long pointed lapel. The 2 lapels meet in a V.
Step 5: Front and buttons
Draw a straight line from the bottom of the V down to the hem. Add 3 round buttons.
Step 6: Sleeves
From each shoulder draw a long sleeve, narrowing down to a flat cuff. Add a cuff line.
Step 7: Chest pocket and pens
On the right of the chest draw a square pocket, with 2 thin pens poking out of the top.
Step 8: Side pockets
Low on the coat draw a short straight line on each side of the front for the side pocket openings.
Step 9: Ground
Draw a ground line under the coat from left to right.
Step 10: Twinkles
Draw a little four-point twinkle in the air at each side of the coat.
Step 11: Blue shirt, yellow twinkles
Go over your lines. Leave the coat and eyes white. Colour the shirt light blue and the twinkles yellow.
Step 12: Pink cheeks, grey buttons
Colour the cheeks pink and the buttons grey.
Step 13: Blue and red pens
Colour one pen blue and the other red. Science time!
