How to Draw Kung Pao Chicken

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw kung pao chicken in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rim.

Print

  1. Step 1: The rim

A little above the middle draw a very wide oval for the top of a wok, wider than your hand.

  2. Step 2: The wok

Start at the left end of the oval. Draw a deep round bowl and stop at the right end.

Tip Kung pao chicken is stir-fried in a wok with peanuts and chillies.

  3. Step 3: A ring stand

Under the wok draw a small stand. Start on the wok, go down, across, and stop back on the wok.

  4. Step 4: 2 loop handles

On each side, just under the rim, start on the side and draw a small loop back to the side.

  5. Step 5: The sauce

Inside the rim draw a second oval a finger inside it, all the way round, for the glossy sauce.

  6. Step 6: Chicken cubes

In the sauce draw 3 chunky tilted blocks with soft corners, spread about, for pieces of chicken.

  7. Step 7: Peanuts and chillies

Between the chicken draw 3 small tilted ovals for peanuts, and 2 little curved chillies pointing different ways.

  8. Step 8: Spring onion and steam

In the gaps draw 2 tiny strips of spring onion. Above the wok draw 2 wiggly steam lines.

  9. Step 9: Table and chopsticks

Draw a table line under the stand, left to right. On its right lay 2 chopsticks, one on top.

  10. Step 10: Tan peanuts, ginger chicken

Go over your lines. Colour the peanuts tan and the chicken cubes ginger.

  11. Step 11: Wood stand, green onion

Colour the stand and chopsticks wood brown, and the spring onion green.

  12. Step 12: Red chillies, brown sauce

Colour the chillies red. Colour the sauce brown around the chicken, nuts, chillies and onion.

  13. Step 13: Black wok

Colour the wok black, around the sauce up to its edge. Your kung pao chicken is done!
